Introduction to this Site:
Short Track Racers On the Internet is intended to give racing fans information and interesting facts and photos. We've noticed that although there are around a thousand oval short tracks in the USA and Canada, and at least 30,000 short track race cars, there are very few websites dedicated to short track racing. Now we know the NASCAR Cup cars race on a few (fewer and fewer) short-tracks, but it is not worth the effort to duplicate that available elsewhere.
One of the best things about short track racing is its diversity -- there are dozens of "styles" -- and its popularity all over the North American continent and 12 Canadian provinces. Whether you like dirt track racing or asphalt, open wheel cars or stockers, home town racers or the touring circuits, you have to like the smells and sounds of a dozen cars (or trucks!) streaking around the track. And, let's face it, we all love the heart-stopping moments when we are not sure if the racer is going to keep his machine under control and especially when he doesn't and bad things happen to the sheet metal...
So we dedicate this website to the fans of Friday and Saturday night racing (and the occasional Wednesday and holiday) who turn out by the hundreds to races of all sorts. We hope you'll find information here which helps you enjoy the racing more and we hope you'll keep coming back to watch us grow. Please feel free to let us know what you'd like to see more of (or less) and what we're missing entirely. Also, we'd appreciate any contributions and corrections you have to these pages -- we know and love racing but we can't be experts in all of the forms of racing you'll find here. The Purpose of these pages is:
When we describe types, or classes, of short-track racing, we also try to give you information about what makes up the cars, some historical-type info about the classes, and tell you about the drivers. All of this is accomplished in the 8+ categories of racing. We call them vehicle types because we can't figure out a better term that is accurate!

We regularly test our websites with Netscape and Internet Explorer on Macs and PCs. We try very hard to make sure our pages are acceptably formatted for these tools. If you have problems that make the guts of our offering unusable, PLEASE let us know and we'll implement one of our work-arounds. We feel that the information is the primary purpose of our sites -- not the whiz-bangs, but we do want you to be entertained as well so we will get fancier as the web population increases its acceptance of such features. Also, we work very hard to ensure that NO links are ever broken. If you find a broken link let us know and we'll be beholden to you forever ;-)
