Welcome! This portion of the Short-Track Racers on the Internet site covers the high-end open wheel cars racing on dirt and asphalt short tracks known as Sprints. This means winged sprints (like World of Outlaws and All Star Circuit of Champions), non-winged (USAC), as well as mini-sprints of various flavors.
Check out our Sprint Photos database. From this page, you can search for all kinds of Sprint racing subjects -- from victory lane shots to crashes, we have a rapidly growing library of captioned photos.
Traditionally, Sprint cars have been the path to Indy car racing, although recently some have gone to NASCAR. The Drivers & Teams pages introduce some drivers and point to the web sites of any who are on the 'net. Sprint car racing is probably the most dangerous of all Short-Track racing - and the memory of many fallen heroes demonstrates it.
Sprint cars are typically very lightweight and very fast. Winged outlaws weigh in at about 1300 pounds including the 410 cubic inch engine which produces upwards of 800 hp. Our Tech pages outline the technical differences between the various types of cars and sanction rules.
